Desert Canyon and River Expedition Course will entail an initial phase where winner and guest will be introduced to the basics of paddling a raft or inflatable kayak, learning "Leave No Trace" camping techniques, outdoor cooking, shelters, key safety principles, whitewater rescue and first-aid. During the first part of the Course, winner and guest will be kayaking and exploring numerous side canyons and hiking. The second part of the Course is a five (5) to eight (8) day substantial backpacking excursion on the Colorado River and San Juan River and four (4) days on Yampa/Green River. Winner and guest will travel five (5) to eight (8) miles a day, carrying a forty (40) to fifty (50) pound backpack through the sandstone and slickrock terrain. Rock Camp and Alpine Expedition Course will entail an initial phase where winner and guest will receive instruction covering the basics of rock climbing in a "hands-on" experiential style. During the first part of the trip, winner and guest will travel by van to the mountains of Colorado, specifically the Rawah Wilderness Area and Rocky Mountain National Park.
